Denis Brihat

Denis Brihat, a photographer based in Provence and internationally celebrated, has dedicated an immense body of work to a single obsession: nature.

He looks at it with an intense and sensitive gaze, a blend of sensuality and rigor. His work reveals the world of cherry blossoms, poppies, onions, and wild grasses, affirming a harmony, a cosmic architecture, an enigmatic and sacred presence.

The unique nature of Denis Brihat's work lies in the technique he uses to create his "photographic paintings," with the desire to recreate the colors of nature as accurately as possible in order to better transfigure them. He has explored, like few professionals, the immense chromatic possibilities of chemistry linked to film photography, employing complex processes, notably to color a black and white print. Each of his photographic paintings requires several weeks of work to achieve this subtle and profound palette.
